The art scene is no exception, with a host of new, high-quality exhibitions to discover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rembrandt is particularly in the spotlight in Canadian museums this spring.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The exhibition <em>Painted Presence: Rembrandt and his peers<\/em> is still going on at Art Gallery of Ontario.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the Bader Collection at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, the AGO welcomes a remarkable selection of seventeenth century Dutch paintings. Shown in dialogue with paintings from the AGO\u2019s European Collection of Art, at the centre of this focused installation are seven artworks attributed to Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), shown together for the first time. Featuring intensely observed still life paintings, detailed interiors and mesmerizing portraits, these striking artworks offer a rare glimpse of Dutch artistry at work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ago.ca\/exhibitions\/painted-presence-rembrandt-and-his-peers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/ago.ca\/exhibitions\/painted-presence-rembrandt-and-his-peers<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the end of April, it will be the turn of the Mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec to reveal an often lesser-known facet of the Dutch master\u2019s work: his art of engraving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_322\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-322\" style=\"width: 2048px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-322\" src=\"https:\/\/mc-bo.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rembrandt-MNBAQ-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mc-bo.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rembrandt-MNBAQ-scaled.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/mc-bo.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rembrandt-MNBAQ-768x206.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/mc-bo.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rembrandt-MNBAQ-1536x413.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-322\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span lang=\"FR\">\u00a9 <\/span>mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec. Photo: Rik Klein Gotink.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to his distinctive talent for chiaroscuro in painting, Rembrandt also possessed unequalled virtuosity in engraving. He was a master of the etching technique. Thanks in particular to the contribution of Rotterdam\u2019s Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, some eighty prints will be presented, highlighting the master\u2019s preferred genres &#8211; religious history, portraiture, landscape, genre scenes &#8211; and placing his engraved work in the socio-historical context of the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mnbaq.org\/en\/exhibition\/rembrandt-1304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.mnbaq.org\/en\/exhibition\/rembrandt-1304<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current revival of art history is giving greater consideration to the work of women artists. Two new displays, on view until early July, bear witness to this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is offering a new tour of its collection of early European art, between the second and third floors of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Peace Pavilion.
