Dr. Marie C. Beaulieu Orna

A passionate art historian, Marie C. Beaulieu Orna obtained a doctorate in art history from the University of Poitiers. She enthusiastically shares this keen interest with collectors and art professionals alike in the spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

With research experience at the highest academic level and excellent organizational management skills, Beaulieu Orna carries out investigative projects thoroughly and effectively. Her services are based on ample cultural experience, acquired by regular visits to the most prominent European museums, as well as the innovative approach of her thesis on the study of materiality and artistic techniques. As an ‘eye’, she leveraged her expertise in attribution for the Manchester Art Gallery (UK). Beaulieu Orna specializes in late 18th-century British and French landscape art. However, her education and considerable teaching experience enable her to broaden her knowledge to many other areas and periods of art history.

As a researcher affiliated at the Centre de Recherche Interdisciplinaire en Histoire, Histoire de l’art et Musicologie (Criham) of the University of Poitiers, Beaulieu Orna’s academic achievements can be found in various well-respected publications. The revised version of her thesis, Narrating the Landscape on the Grand Tour. British Creativity in Landscape Portrayal 1760-1800, is being edited at Brepols. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Dix-huitième Siècle and The British Art Journal. Finally, she regularly presents the results of her research at international conferences, some of which have been published in the form of proceedings.

Beaulieu Orna’s proficiency is underlined by the many accolades and certifications she has achieved throughout her career. She is certified as a lecturer by the Conseil national des universités in France. She has been awarded various scholarships, in particular for study trips to the United Kingdom and the United States; lately she received the 2023 Publication Grant from Association Bella Maniera for her editorial project on John Baptist Malchair. She was also auditioned for a position as an Associate Lecturer at the prestigious University of St Andrews in Scotland.

As a teacher, Beaulieu Orna is convinced of the merits of transmitting scientific knowledge to as many people as possible, as demonstrated by her participation in various popular talks in France and Italy. Thus, when it comes to à la carte conferences, Beaulieu Orna is happy to apply her didactic skills in an effort to popularize science.
